Sheboygan, Wis. – Madison Area Technical College and The Vollrath Company, LLC, a global leader in the commercial foodservice equipment and supplies industry, have partnered again to host the annual Madison College Chef Series.
As part of the program, nine renowned chefs share their entrepreneurial path to success including the inevitable challenges and obstacles – and what they learned from it. The monthly presentations will also cover methods of preparation and cooking demonstrations by the chefs.
“The Madison College Chef Series is an exceptional program that provides great value for the students,” said Christina Wegner, marketing vice president of Vollrath Company. “Part of our company’s mission is to promote the culinary arts and education and we love being able to share the success stories and hard-learned lessons of these prestigious chefs. Seeing them use and appreciate the quality and performance of our product in their demos is of course an added perk.”
“This Series spotlights the success of local and regional culinary professionals, while offering the public an opportunity to learn professional techniques and experience their cuisine,” said Bryan Woodhouse, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Madison College. “We’re thrilled that Vollrath has decided to support the program a second time.”
Kyle Cherek, culinary historian and former host of Emmy Award-winning Public Broadcasting Service television show Wisconsin Foodie, is hosting the program.
The 2019 Chef Series runs through May 2020 and the line-up includes: Christine Cikowski and Joshua Kulp of Honey Butter Fried Chicken and Sunday Dinner Club in Chicago; Michael Twitty, author of the book The Cooking Gene; Yia Vang, founder of Union Hmong Kitchen, a Twin Cities pop up restaurant; Graham Elliot, TV personality and owner of Petite Harvest and Coast; Phillip Foss of EL ideas in Chicago; Zach Engel of Galit in Chicago; Lisa Ludwinski of Sister Pie in Detroit; Gavin Kaysen of Bellecour in Minnesota; and Tony and Cathy Montuano of Spiaggia and Café Spiaggia in Chicago.
