Nationally recognized chefs share their entrepreneurial journey during Madison College program

Sheboygan, Wis. – September 25, 2018 – Madison Area Technical College and The Vollrath Company, LLC, a global leader in the commercial foodservice equipment and supplies industry, have partnered to host the annual Madison College Chef Series. Throughout the 2018-19 school year, eight chefs will present to students and the public about their entrepreneurial journey and challenges they faced along the way. The monthly presentations will also cover methods of preparation, cooking demonstrations and appetizers prepared by the chefs.

“We’re very excited to be part of the Madison College Chef Series,” said Paul Bartelt, president and CEO of Vollrath Company. “We are passionate about promoting the culinary arts and education – sharing success stories and lessons learned of some of the Midwest’s most prestigious chefs is sure to be motivating for aspiring culinary professionals. The partnership also provides us a great opportunity to showcase the quality of Vollrath’s products and services.”

“This Series spotlights on the amazing culinary professionals we have locally and regionally and creates opportunities for the community to hear their stories, learn professional techniques and experience their cuisine,” said Bryan Woodhouse, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Madison College. “We’re pleased to partner with an industry leader like Vollrath to make it happen.”

Kyle Cherek, host of Emmy Award-winning Public Broadcasting Service television show Wisconsin Foodie, will host the program.

Chef Justin Carlisle, owner of Ardent restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will open the new Chef Series Tuesday, Oct. 23, 6-8 p.m. in the Demonstration Kitchen at the Truax Campus. Carlisle is a graduate of Madison College’s Culinary Arts degree program and for the past four years has been a James Beard Award finalist for Best Chef in the Midwest.
